Website Restructured and President's Report Page Added

A dedicated President's Report page can be found in the About Us section.

Weekly updates of events are now in the newly renamed News & Events section where Wanderings, our monthly newsletter, can now be found.

Programs... parties... classes... seminars... forums... concerts... retreats... worship... Feastings... Art for Heaven’s Sake!... prayer... scripture study... book discussion... meetings... musical rehearsals... peace vigils... all of these “events” and more make up the life of this vital congregation. The beauty of a congregational system is that there can be as many programs and events as creative and talented people to lead them.

Whoever you are, whatever level of involvement you choose, wherever you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here.

If you have questions about any of these events, please contact the church office. We will be happy to assist you!

Sunday – February 28th

This morning’s scriptures are Matthew 6:5-15; Didache 8:2b-3; Luke 11:1-13. You are invited to enhance your worship experience by reading the scripture passage ahead of time.

Many of you wrote in your 2010 covenants that you would like to strengthen your prayer life, and in response, the remainder of our Lenten worship services will be dedicated to learning more about the so-called “Lord’s Prayer.”  We pray it each Sunday, maybe a bit by rote…we turn to it in times of sickness and stress…we find comfort in it’s familiarity…  Now we shall spend time, together, meditating upon it’s meaning for us 21st century Christians.

Wednesday – March 3rd

  • 6:00-8:00 p.m. – At RUCC, we are committed to social justice and to standing up to oppression. This year in our Lenten series, we will deepen our relationships and sharpen our skills at being allies to each other in ending oppression. In a climate where gay rights are key political and social issues in our state, we will take the next step in our life together as an open and affirming congregation. Gay and straight together--we will learn about how gay oppression operates in the workplace, religious and family life, and share stories about our experiences in these areas.  As we get to know each other better and become more fully informed, we will learn to be allies to end gay oppression. We will reflect individually and collectively on how ending gay oppression is grounded in our spiritual journeys as people of faith.  Sara Schoonmaker will lead us in using the process of listening with delight to strengthen our relationships and develop strategies for action to meet this challenge joyfully and prayerfully. (We hope that this year's Lenten series will help us to be allies to a range of oppressed groups and further strengthen our skills to build closer relationship with people of many diverse backgrounds.) Logistics: A simple soup supper will be served at 6:00 pm -- please bring your own bowl and tableware -- discussion begins about 6:45 and concludes at 8:00 pm. All are welcome -- youth are especially encouraged to participate -- child care is provided for infants and young children -- any questions?  Please contact Sara Schoonmaker or Rev. Graff.

  • 3:00 p.m. – Memorial service celebrating the life of Dorothy Landeros

Dear RUCC Family – With a heavy heart, I write to inform you that our dear Dorothy Landeros passed peacefully from this life on Monday, just before midnight.  Her family members--Dianne, Rob, and Toni--were with her.  Over the past several weeks, many of you visited, sent cards, and made phone calls to assure her of your love...please know that this brought much joy to her as well as comfort to the family.

Dorothy was a founding member of Redlands UCC, sang in the choir, helped provide flowers for Sunday services, and could always be counted upon to bring joy and beauty in her wake.  She was also a "killer" Scrabble player!  Her face was one of the first--and most gracious and friendly--that new people would notice.  Her ability to remember names and stories and connect the two with amazing accuracy meant that she became a fast friend.  As one of our newer members recently remarked, "Dorothy reflects the heart and soul of Redlands UCC..."  That she does, and will continue to do as she lives on in our memories and in the heart of God.

Dorothy's long and vibrant life will be honored in a service of worship and remembrance on Saturday, March 6, 3:00 pm in the RUCC Sanctuary.  And, of course, there will be food.  All are welcome.  If you would like to help with the reception, please contact Beki Hill (Area Leader for Church Life) at 909.798.5899.

If you would like to join an email list for news and updates regarding memorial services and the like, please go to www.albertlanderos.com .

Dorothy’s obituary at the Daily Facts can be read here.

We will be sharing our "free writes" for feed-back as well as taking part in writing exercises. Hope to see you there! Questions? email Rev. Sharon pastor@uccredlands.org or Stacie Belmonte at stacie@heavenlysanctuary.com.
Additional Weekly Prayer Group Begins on Tuesday, March 2 @ 5:00 pm  All are welcome to participate!  The group will be like the Monday morning group: self-led, including a weekly sharing of the joys and concerns of our congregation, learning about prayer, and concluding with time for silent prayer.  We will end promptly at 6:00 pm.  This year's covenants expressed a desire to include more prayer in our spiritual journeys, hence the addition of this group to meet each week after the work day ends.  Please meet in the choir room.  Questions?  Contact Rev. Graff.

Donating materials for making mother’s day cards the day of the event
Hospitality for the breakfast send-off the day of the event

Greeting Cards Needed –Hello RUCC friends!  We are gearing up to send birthday cards to our church members this year and we are hoping to acquire some cards to replenish our stock.  Birthday cards would be great, but even blank greeting cards would serve our purpose.  Starting this year we also plan to include our kids in the mailing of cards so that our little ones receive something in the mail to let them know that the church is thinking of them on their special day.  With that in mind, if you happen to have extra birthday cards for kids that you could share with us, we would be most grateful.  Greeting cards will be graciously accepted by Barbara Hauser and Charissa Wiedlin.  Thanks so much!
