Our church is unique because we cherish all persons, including those who feel unwelcome, overlooked, or excluded by other churches. If you are looking for a church home or a place for your wedding or other event, we invite you to come visit us soon. Whether you worship with us for just one visit or become a member of the church, we believe that you will have a fulfilling and positive spiritual experience here.

Bulletins

The Alpha Bible Study group  – Will begin for the new year on Tuesday, September 7, at 7:30 P.M.  We will be meeting at the home of Jane Arnegard, and begin our study of the book of Acts.  Copies of the commentary we will be using to help us can be purchased at the church office from Carla for $22.00 per book or will be available at the first meeting.  All are welcome, and this would be a great time to join, as we will be starting at the very beginning of Acts 1:1.  Please feel free to join us. We meet on the first and third Tuesday of each month.

Covenant Choir – The Covenant Choir will resume rehearsals on September 9. Anyone who would like to join, please see Taylor Ruhl, or email Taylor at taylorruhl@gmail.com.

Wider Ministries and Faith Acts meeting on Haiti. – We will meet on Sunday, September 12 at 12:15 p.m. in the CE area. All are welcome. Please note the date change.

Calling all families and friends of the RUCC youth groups – It is hard to believe that Craig and Amanda are about to head out – after six great years with our church family and youth.  One question you may have wondered as we head for this transition is, “what now?”  While there is never a simple answer, it is sure great you asked!  The youth and the personnel committee at RUCC are looking for people to jump in and help in the following ways:

  •  In the short term, we are seeking five individuals (1 Sr. High youth representative, 1 Jr. High youth representative, 1 Sr. High parent, 1 Jr. High parent , and  1 congregational member at large), to be a member of the search committee, which will be chaired by Marybeth Maury-Holmes.   The commitment to the search committee will involve listening to the hopes of our congregation as you talk among each other, attending at least two 2-hour meetings to review the job description and formulate an interview plan, and then a willingness to be a part of interviewing and selecting our next Youth Director – however long that takes.
  •  In the intermediate term, we are seeking families and adult friends of youth group members to jump in and guide our very wonderful youth in September, October and November (if necessary) for 1 – 2 Sunday meetings of your choosing or for special youth events (parties, overnights, games and other fun!).  Youth group meets on Sundays from 1 – 3 in the afternoon – and can involve everything from acts of service, hanging out, Bible Study, movies and discussion, games or any other muse that strikes.  The special events can be held any time – and the youth will come!

In the long-term, we are confident that God will guide us to the next best steps, so ask for the thoughtful prayers of everyone around.

If you have a willingness to help in any of these ways, please drop a call, an email, a text or a kind word in the hall to Marybeth Maury-Holmes (mauryholmes@yahoo.com; 909-335-1995) or Pastor Leif Lind.  Once we have a posse of volunteers, we will formulate the details.

Resurrection Happens :-) ~ Be a part of RUCC PICTURE Directory!  For several years, there has been talk, planning, and a couple of valiant beginnings on another RUCC picture directory of our many members and friends, but the project has not yet come to fruition.  It seems that some were hesitant to complete a lengthy questionnaire, or not able to schedule a photo shoot when the photographer was present, or just simply forgot!  We are, after all, busy people!!!  We are also people who are part of a growing congregation who want to know each other better, and photos connected to names will be a dandy way to do just that!  Wendy S. Hunt has agreed to take responsibility for completing this important project...she needs YOUR help!  Throughout the summer, Wendy will be inviting those who have not yet had a picture taken to do so after worship.  If you'd like additional personal information in the directory (like hobbies, church interests, etc.) she will receive that info from you as well.  I do hope we can all work together to complete this project and get on with the lovely friendships that await!  --Rev. Dr. Sharon R. Graff

2010 Retreat Date – The RUCC All Church Retreat will be October 1-3, 2010. This will be a wonderful opportunity to share in community with our whole church family! You can enjoy the great outdoors, toast some delicious s'mores, and relax as the Spirit restores, while the younger generation explores ... the invitation is open to you and yours! We will start Friday evening after dinner and continue through Sunday worship in beautiful Pilgrim Pines,  the United Church of Christ campground in Oak Glen. More information to come in the next few months, but get it on your calendar now. One special thing that's already confirmed .. our song leader Saturday evening will be Jim Manley, composer of such favorites as Spirit, Be Still, Dance, Take Off Your Shoes, Part of the Family and many more. You don't want to miss this!
